“Interior of the Year is the oldest award focused on interior design in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
and it has become a hallmark of the award to provide a sort of report on the state of interior design for a specific year. Over the past eleven years, we have presented an incredible 2,077 projects to the public and the media, all of which can be viewed on our website.” says Petr Tschakert, the competition’s founder and director.
The largest number of entries—108—are private interiors. Notable public interiors include, for example, the exhibition of Liběna Rochová’s work *DOTEKY* at the Moravian Gallery in Brno, the Via Elementary and Preschool in Beroun, and the original Slovak restaurant Skô at Prague’s Holešovice Market. The category of offices, hubs, and coworking centers is once again strongly represented.
The winners will be selected by an 18-member international jury led by the emeritus rector of Prague’s Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design (VŠUP), Prof. Acad. Arch. Jiří Pelcl, Dr. h. c. Representing the Czech side on the jury are, for example, designers Jakub Pollág and Antonín Tomášek, as well as producer, director, and local politician Hana Třeštíková.
The winner of the separate Public Vote category can be selected by anyone interested in interior design from April 20 to May 5, 2026 on our website.
The results of the 2025 Interior of the Year competition will be announced as the highlight of the international congress on housing, design, and architecture, Living Forum, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art in Prague. Living Forum is an all-day interior design festival, and in addition to Czech architects and designers, a number of prominent international guests will also contribute with their lectures.
The eleventh edition of the competition is held under the auspices of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Prague City Hall, and the mayor of the Prague 7 district.
