Zátory has a long history. It is, in fact, the oldest part of Holešovice, which was once a distinct neighbourhood full of charming little streets lined with a variety of shops and small businesses. It is said that Zátory may well have been the inspiration for Foglar’s Stínadla.
A tradition of a laid-back atmosphere
However, in the mid-1970s, it was decided that a railway station and a metro station would be built here, and so, when construction began, virtually the whole of Zátory disappeared. As it had been a self-sufficient world throughout, the laid-back atmosphere of the 1960s persisted here right to the end.
Today, we can perhaps say that this area is returning to its original tradition. Although there are still a number of so-called neglected and forgotten spots, interesting property developments and shops are springing up here, giving rise to a new, cool urban neighbourhood whilst also linking two other trendy areas – Lower Holešovice and Letná.
A designer’s paradise
It’s been roughly a year since the successful Czech brands Dechem, Master & Master and Todus opened a shared showroom on the refurbished Na Zátorách street in Holešovice. They agree that the shared space is an advantage not only for customers, who can purchase their beautiful products from three distinct areas under one roof, but also for the brands themselves, as they can draw inspiration from one another.
The central part of the space is divided into three interconnected sections, yet each brand is afforded a certain degree of privacy and its own area. At the same time, the individual zones blend together with furnishings from the other brands – the section occupied by Todus features lighting by Dechem, whilst Dechem’s own space is furnished with pieces from Master & Master and Todus.

With respect for local craftsmanship
Studio Dechem certainly needs no lengthy introduction. Its traditional delicate glass vases, in all sizes and shades, as well as light fittings, are available in the showroom. The studio also has part of its production facilities, a warehouse and back-of-house areas for finalising orders here.
The Todus brand has been a fixture on the Czech market for even longer – it has specialised in outdoor furniture for private and hotel gardens both here and abroad for over 30 years. However, the company has never had its own showroom before, so this marks its debut on Na Zátorách.

An example of mutual synergy
The trio is complemented by interior furniture from Master & Master. Its chairs, armchairs and tables stand out beautifully in the showroom thanks to the exposed concrete in part of the space. Dechem vases are also displayed on a shelf by Master & Master.
The showroom therefore serves not only as a shop and showcase for individual designers, but also as a practical demonstration of how specific pieces from their collections work in real life.

If you fancy a coffee or something sweet during your visit to the showroom, you can satisfy your craving just a few steps away at the Supernova Bakehouse café. A beautiful and stylish interior awaits you here, along with the aroma of freshly baked pastries and Doubleshot coffee. Whilst your taste buds and sense of smell are being treated, you can watch the bakers at work or take in the hustle and bustle of the street.
