It is characterized primarily by rounded, stress-free shapes, whose softness evokes a sense of security and caters to the world of children, as well as by deliberate playfulness and a personalized color palette. The interior thoughtfully incorporates works of art, offers a casual atmosphere, and is designed to age gracefully.
“This year’s overall winner is essentially the definition of a perfectly executed family interior concept that welcomes and embraces its residents—including children and pets—day after day like a safe embrace. The design undoubtedly reflects not only the designer’s undeniable professionalism and talent but also a deeply emotional feminine perspective. A few days before the winners of Interior of the Year were announced, she herself became a happy mother,” adds Petr Tschakert, founder and director of the Interior of the Year competition, explaining how this project resonated with the international jury.
However, Martina Šandová’s interior was not the only Prague interior to take first place in its category in this year’s eighth edition of the competition. In the LOW-COST HOUSING category, the Studio Apartment Near the Exhibition Grounds by architect Zuzana Řepíková of the DESIGNPRO studio took top honors. The General Partner’s Award, sponsored by Kronospan, went to the JRA JAROUŠEK ROCHOVÁ ARCHITEKTI studio for House by the Park. Architect Martina Homolková from the MALFINIO studio won the Journalists’ Award for the interior of Apartment E07. The public, meanwhile, was most impressed by Vinohradský sen, a project by the ARCHISTROJ and ATELIER HORIZONT studios.
