A hearty breakfast is essential
You’ll find their renowned egg specialties year-round at Café Savoy, which is designed as a traditional café in the classic Viennese style. Whether you opt for Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, an omelet with Gruyère cheese, or poached eggs with black truffle, you can be sure your taste buds will be more than delighted. If you’d rather visit Café Savoy for afternoon coffee or tea, be sure to try the unbeatable egg open-faced sandwich with chives.
On the opposite bank of the Vltava River, right next to the National Theater, stop by SmetanaQ Café&Bistro, which boasts a modern interior featuring renowned brands such as Bomma and TON. With a view of Prague Castle, you can enjoy an Easter brunch here in many different ways. We recommend the classic avocado toast, the local signature breakfast of waffles with strawberries and mascarpone, and the excellent Eggs Benedict. Do you care where your food comes from? Then you’ll definitely be interested to know that the eggs at SmetanaQ Café & Bistro come from free-range chickens at the Kubát family farm.

If you’d rather avoid the city center during the holidays and are drawn to the stylish atmosphere of Vinohrady, stop by Spižírna 1902 first thing in the morning for some Eggs Florentine with spinach. The interior, featuring beautiful wallpaper with botanical motifs, will also put you in a springtime mood. If you’re too full for anything sweet right now but know your sweet tooth will kick in later in the day, head a few meters down the street to the Kus koláče bakery for something delicious. Just be sure to arm yourself with patience. This bakery on Korunní Street is so famous that lines of eager customers are a daily occurrence. Once you taste the pastries, you’ll understand that those few minutes of waiting were well worth it.

Easter Menu for Lunch and Dinner
Want to go out for a festive lunch with your family or dinner with friends? Then it’s worth knowing which Prague restaurants are offering special Easter menus. The unique restaurant Food Lab on Haštalská Street in the Old Town has prepared a three-course Easter menu. It starts with a mixed salad with baby spinach and a poached egg, continues with stuffed lamb shank, and serves an Easter egg with chocolate mousse and caramel for dessert.

Marek Fichtner, head chef at the Červený jelen restaurant, has prepared veal tenderloin in a herb crust or rabbit saddle wrapped in Iberian bacon with pea soufflé and truffle sauce for Easter. But you can also look forward to Easter classics—buttery mazanec with almonds, lamb cake, and egg liqueur. You’ll be entertained not only by the food but also by the unconventional interior, designed by renowned architect Stanislav Fiala.
Zdeněk Pohlreich has also prepared a special holiday menu at his restaurant Next Door by Imperial. For an appetizer, try the duck breast terrine, or sample the chicken soup with a poached egg. For the main course, choose grilled fjord trout fillet or rabbit with wild garlic sauce, creamy spinach, and Prague ham.
Throughout April, you can also enjoy a four-course Easter menu at Restaurant Mlýnec near Charles Bridge. It consists of pork pâté, catfish roasted in butter, leg of lamb, and baked Easter bread. Not only will the excellent food put you in a pleasant mood, but so will the interior filled with greenery and natural shapes, designed by architect Pavel Kříž.

Sweeten Your Life
Few of us have time these days to bake a traditional lamb-shaped cake or mazance. So most of us head to the nearest bakery. If you still want to treat your family and friends to the very best this Easter, head to Lukáš Skála’s pastry shop for your mazanec and lamb cake this year. If you’ve outgrown the classics or aren’t really into traditional treats, turn your attention to the unique Easter eggs. You can choose between a chocolate Easter egg decorated with sugar daisies, a unique egg with a coconut cream and mango purée filling—which is also coated in delicious chocolate—and an Easter egg made from high-quality milk chocolate.

Other renowned Prague pastry shops have also prepared stylish Easter desserts for you. At Iveta Fabešová’s IF Café, located in Werich Villa on Kampa, you can try the Golden Egg. This dessert is made of coconut mousse filled with pineapple, mango, and vanilla, and coated in a crispy layer of dark chocolate.
The popular IPPA Café also offers six types of sweet egg-shaped desserts.
