Žižkov may not have the same vibe as neighboring Karlín and Vinohrady, but even here you’ll find cozy spots filled with the aroma of excellent coffee—places worth traveling halfway across Prague to visit. You can also stop by for yoga, to enjoy some art, or simply to take in a pleasant atmosphere for meetings, work, or fun.

Coffee Vibes in Žižkov

The main attraction of Kafe Atrium is, as the name suggests, the atrium, which offers a view of the Žižkov Tower. Photo: The café’s Facebook page (courtesy of Kafe Atrium).

For coffee and drinks

The modern café Kafe Atrium on Čajkovského Street was opened by three women who grew tired of corporate life and decided instead to serve great coffee, luxurious pastries, and homemade spreads, pour draft beer, and offer carefully selected wines. For breakfast, you can enjoy eggs or a mimosa; with your beer, try some pickled sausages. Their café is a place where you can meet up over coffee or raspberry gin and tonic, or simply relax in peace. They also host concerts, various lectures, and salsa parties.

For coffee, beer, or a concert

Café Pavlač, located on Víta Nejedlého Street, is perfect for many different occasions. Don’t be fooled by the word “Café” in the name—you can come here for just about anything. They offer a “lunch” menu every day, which is served until 10:00 p.m. or until sold out. There’s also a regular menu featuring sandwiches, spaghetti, hummus, and even steak. In the morning, you can enjoy scrambled eggs, and during the day, you can liven up a business meeting with a glass of wine. In the evening, stop by for a beer—and don’t forget to order their homemade potato chips to go with it. The café also houses Galerie 35m2, where you can admire contemporary art, and Klub Café Pavlač. There’s even an outdoor patio that’s perfect for relaxing.

You’ll never get tired of the homemade cakes

Head to My Coffee Story on Štítného Street for breakfast, which they serve until the afternoon. You can enjoy classic egg dishes, pancakes, or even a sweet vegan toast. They usually have coffee from Brazil or El Salvador on the grinder. The excellent homemade cakes, which taste just like Grandma’s, are also a sure bet. In addition to the classics, gluten-free options are available. You can also stop by for a light lunch. If the weather is nice, we recommend settling into the pleasant courtyard garden.

Café Spirit on Basilejské náměstí describes itself as probably the most baby-friendly café in Žižkov. They even host creative workshops where you can leave your child and get some valuable time to yourself. Of course, you can also visit for many other reasons—and feel free to come without the kids. They have an excellent breakfast menu, fresh baked goods all day long, and their coffee comes from Coffee Source. Café Spirit also features the Jóga Spirit yoga studio.
