The well-known Korunní Street in Vinohrady is actually a bit like a small town within a city. It’s full of great shops; you’ll find a wide variety of services there, and even a theatre. In short, it could almost fill a guidebook of its own.
Today, however, we’d like to give you a few tips on the most stylish cafés, bakeries and places where you can find the best treats when you’re feeling peckish or have popped out for a fresh breakfast.
For brunch and wine
Don’t be put off by the name of the café Kavotéka. As well as coffee, they serve classic breakfasts and brunches – from eggs Benedict to a traditional English breakfast and pancakes – as well as popular pastries – do try a kremrole or a profiterole. In the evening, the café transforms into a wine bar. As well as wine, you can also enjoy an Aperol, for example.
A coffee and breakfast legend
An absolute legend, not just on Korunní Street but throughout Prague, is the Coffee Room, which was one of the first cafés in the city to offer speciality coffee. Today, the Coffee Room has new owners, but this hasn’t detracted from its quality in the slightest. Pop in for a superb filter coffee or cold brew, and you absolutely must come here for breakfast too – they have their own granola, baked banana bread with rhubarb compote, or the ever-popular avo toast.

Coffee to go
Whether you want a takeaway coffee in a cup (your own, of course) or are popping in for some speciality coffee to brew at home, head to Dos Mundos. You may have tasted this coffee somewhere before – it’s stocked by dozens of different cafés – but right on Korunní they have their own roastery, where you can buy coffee to take home or sample it straight away. Of course, you can also sit in here.
If you’re working from home
It wasn’t long ago that the café and bakery Kin & K Bakery opened a branch on Korunní Street, where you’ll find classic treats, seasonal specialities and delicacies from around the world. They’ll be happy to welcome you here for a meeting, but feel free to pop in with your laptop and indulge in some sweet treats whilst you work. And you can even bring your dog along. Arrange business meetings or breakfasts in the beautiful surroundings of Spižírna 1902. They also serve light lunches, and the menu changes daily depending on the season.

Cake versus croissant versus pastry
A hugely addictive hit in recent years has been the café Kus Koláče, where people often queue for ages for its cakes and other treats. But if you’re more of a croissant person, then you’ll be heading to Just Croissant, where you can not only buy some to take away but also have breakfast there and then – as well as croissants, they also serve waffles, for example. Another Vinohrady classic is Coffee Corner Bakery, where, in addition to breakfast and pastries, you can also buy traditional cakes. But if you’re looking for traditional Czech pastries at their very best – such as věnečky, laskonky, větrníky or perhaps a bábovka – you should also know about Cukrářství čp.1.
